British parliamentarian calls for imposing weapon ban on Israel

Member of the British House of Commons Gerlad Kaufman criticized the policies adopted by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon against the Palestinians.

Kaufman, Jewish British Labour parliamentarian, called for imposing harsh sanctions on the Israeli government to compel it to return to the negotiation table.

In statements to Monte Carlo Radio Monday, the Jewish lawmaker termed the government of Sharon as being morally corrupt and unethical.

Imposing harsh economic sanctions on Sharon's government including freezing arms shipment can make the government change its policies, he said.

He said that former US President George Bush imposed sanctions on the government of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir to compel it to negotiate with the Palestinians.
