Saudi Arabia: releasing two reformers

The Saudi Arabian authorities yesterday released two Saudi reformers among other 4 detained since March 16, and this was without their vow to stop their reform supporting activities.

Tawfiq al-Qasir, a university teacher said I, together with Sheikh Suleiman al-Rashoudi were released in Riyadh after investigations were made with us," stressed that they were found not guilty. He continued "we did not vow not to issue statements calling for reforms but we were told that the statements should be addressed only to the crown prince. And we said, any way, our aim is to attain reform.

Al-Rashoudi for his part said " we continue demanding reforms and the constitution and of separate authorities ( in saudi Arabia ), which means a constitutional monarchy that copes with our conditions and with the Islamic Jurisprudence.." He added " we did not vow not to issue statements but we vowed this is to be in coordination with the leadership, which means to address the statements and demand only to the Saudi leadership."

The four activists who are still detained are Muhammad Saeed al- Tayeb, Ali al- Dumeni, Matrouk al-Faleh and Abdullah al-Hamid. These men refused to stop issuing statements in open calling for reforms in the Kingdom.
