Minister denies arrest of Moroccan in possession of Atocha railway station Map

The Moroccan minister of communication "firmly" denied on Friday media reports alleging the arrest of a Moroccan national in the northern city of Tetouan in possession of the map of the Madrid Atocha railway station. The latter was among the four railways stations targeted by the March 11 terrorist attacks in the Spanish capital.

Nabil Benabdallah, also spokesman of the Government, however said that some people were arrested in the northeastern region of Nador as part of the ongoing investigations on these terrorist attacks that claimed 190 lives, including 3 Moroccan nationals.

He added that the Moroccan security services are carrying on their mission of investigation before presenting the arrested people to the prosecutor.

Earlier, the Minister said Moroccan security services were "actively" cooperating with their Spanish counterparts.

Spanish authorities have arrested in the past hours two other Moroccan nationals bringing the number of people in custody in Spain to 21, including 18 Moroccans, two Indians and one Spaniard. (MAP) MK
