Washington reopens its embassy, consulate in the UAE
United Arab Emirates-USA, Politics, 3/27/2004

The American embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai announced they will open their doors today ( Saturday) and will resume their works after they were closed for one day because they had received threats.

In a statement, the American embassy said in a memorandum that the American mission commends the cooperation of the government of the United Arab Emirates and its quick response to the threatening information the embassy had received.

This, however, came after the United Arab Emirates UAE on Wednesday detained one person following the closure of the embassy suspected to have links to a certain threat against the American embassy.

On Tuesday, the US warned against the increasing danger of the American exposure in the Middle East and North Africa to attacks following Israel's assassination of the founder of the Hamas movement Sheikh Ahmad Yassin on Monday.
