Al-Assad meets Iraqi delegation

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday renewed support to the Iraqi people and to offer Iraq all needed aid to help so as to surpass its ordeal.
In a meeting with the Preparatory Board for the Iraqi Constitutional Congress, President al-Assad was briefed by the delegation on the Congress's aims embodied in the national unity enhancement, ending the Iraqi people's suffering, ending the occupation and Iraq's return to its national, regional and international position.
The Iraqi delegation which was headed by Sheikh Ahmed Al-Baghdadi had been earlier received by Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam. There were a review of the situation in Iraq and the Iraqi people's aspiration during the meeting.
Sheikh Baghdadi praised in a statement after the meeting Syria's national positions and her offers to the Iraqi people to end its anguish.
He clarified to journalists that the congress was working to end the occupation in Iraq, to formulate a national government representing spectrums of the Iraqis and to restore Iraq to its natural situation.
