ISESCO condemns assassination of Sheikh Yassin
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 3/24/2004

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) "strongly condemns the slaughter by Israeli occupation forces of the martyr Sheikh Ahmed Yassine," founder and spiritual leader of Hamas.

In a communique released Monday, the Organization (an offshoot of the organization of the Islamic Conference) "strongly denounces the state terrorism practised by Israel in defiance of the international law, thereby becoming a real threat to the peace and security of the world."

ISESCO urged the international community to "take a strong and urgent position in relation with this odious crime," warning that "the assassination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassine would escalate violence and bloodshed in the region, and above all, would tear asunder the peace process and bring about total anarchy."

The Rabat-based organization accused Israel of "total responsibility for this horrendous crime against a national leader conducting strife for liberation and independence."
