Britain warns its citizens from traveling to certain areas in Syria
Syria-UK, Politics, 3/24/2004

Britain yesterday warned its citizens from traveling to certain areas in Syria which had witnessed acts of riots, but stressed that this new warning has nothing to do with likely terrorist attacks.

A statement by the British Foreign office said "confrontations took place recently in areas in Syria and therefore we recommend our citizens not to travel to al-Qamishli and other areas in Eastern Syria unless this is necessity for that.

One official said that the government considers that there are only few number of British in the area which were affected by the acts of riots and are basically working in the oil industry, adding that this warning " has nothing to do with Terrorism."
