Al-Shara in Cairo: the assassination will increase the cycle of violence
Egypt-Syria, Politics, 3/23/2004

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara said yesterday upon his arrival in Cairo yesterday that the assassination of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin will lead to the " increase of the cycle of violence" in the region.

Al-Shara said that Yassin's assassination is "a crime" which reveals Israel's rejection to peace and will be conducive to "more escalation" in the region. He continued he will hand over the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak a message from his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad relating to "bilateral relations and Arab conditions."
