One American, two Iraqis killed

One American soldier and one Iraqi translator were killed and three American soldiers were injured in a bomb explosion implanted on a roadside to the west of Baghdad.

One American military spokesman confirmed the news saying that the attack targeted one American convoy on Sunday evening, adding that the occupation forces opened investigations to this incident.

The attack took place after the Iraqi police detained in Karkouk yesterday one member of Ansar al-Islam group to the north of Iraq before they handed him to the American occupation forces. The police said that the suspect was carrying statements threatening the occupation forces and the Kurdish militias to the north of Iraq.

In al-Falouja to the west of Baghdad two American soldiers were killed on Sunday and other 7 wounded in missile shelling attack. One American military spokesman said that three missiles fell on an advanced base used as an inspection point and two missile blew up outside it and this resulted in killing the two soldiers and wounding other seven.

The headquarters of the occupation leadership in the downtown of Baghdad was exposed to an attack yesterday at dawn that forced workers to go the shelters. Explosions were heard inside what is called the "green area" which is taken by the occupation forces as its main headquarters and is surrounded by strong security measures.

The Iraqi police said that three mortars shelling were fired from the southern part of the city towards the green area.

The news said that one of the missiles fired by the attackers on the region fell on crossroad in al-Mansour quarters near Baghdad International Fair and this resulted in killings.
