Egypt, Culture, 3/20/2004

A training course on human rights at Egypt's Police Academy is to start on Sunday for 50 officers working in the Prisons Department.

The 10-day course will be organized by the human rights capacity-building project of the UN Development Programme in association with the Foreign Ministry.

The training course doesn't deal with the police sector only but the staff of prosecution, judiciary and media as well, said Ambassador Ahmed Hagag, the project's coordinator, noting that the course aimed at providing the trainees with basic information on human rights and mechanisms of maintaining them.
