Minister unveils names of three Moroccan suspects arrested in Madrid

Three of the five suspects arrested, Thursday in Madrid, in connection with last week's terrorist attacks in Spain are Moroccans, revealed Friday, Moroccan minister of communication and spokesman of the Government.

Nabil Abdellah said all three suspects, Abderrahim Zbakh (33), Mohamed El Hadi Chedadi (38), and Farid Oulad Ali (34), have been residing in Spain for several years.

These new arrests bring the total number of Moroccan nationals arrested in connection with those blasts to 6.

The first three Moroccans, Jamal Zougam, Mohamed Chaoui and Mohamed Bekkali, arrested along with two indians, have been accused of terror crimes after a seven-hour overnight hearing at Madrid's High Court,

They were accused of 190 murders, 1,400 attempted murders and of belonging to a "terrorist group," while the two Indians were accused of cooperating with a "terrorist group."

All five were ordered held in custody after their initial appearance which ended at 4 a.m. (3 GMT) on Friday morning.

202 people, including 3 Moroccan nationals, were killed and some 1,400 were injured in those bombings that targeted four packed commuter trains in Madrid on March 11. (MAP)MK



Women's assembly praises King's personal involvement in reforming women status



Paris, Mar. 19 (MAP) - The "Union des Femmes Decorees de la Legion d'Honneur" (UFDLH) praised, in Paris Thursday night, Moroccan King's personal involvement in reforming Moroccan women status known in Arabic as "Mudawana."

The holders of the French Legion d'Honneur decoration, meeting in their first general assembly in Paris, in presence of Princess Lalla Meryem, sister of King Mohammed VI, also paid homage to the late princess Lalla Fatima Zahra, former Chairwoman of the Union Nationale des Femmes Marocaines.
