Bush to impose tough sanctions against Syria shortly

Sources in the US congress said that the US President George W. Bush will shortly impose severe economic sanctions against Syria, according to " Syria's accountability law and restoring back the Lebanese sovereignty," which was approved in 2003.
The sources said that the sanctions might be announced next week. It added it was notified by officials in the US administration that Bush intends choosing three sanctions to be imposed on Syria, noting that the sanctions are: banning Syrian planes to fly in the American airspace, banning any new investments in Syria and embargoing the American exports to Syria.
Eleina Ross Letinin who sponsored the Syrian accountability law said that the US administration does not want to serve contacts with the government of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. She added " we do not want to push them to the point of no-return," in the hope that the Syrian President will do the correct thing and return back to sincere co-operation."
