Equity and Reconciliation Committee, health department weigh partnership
Morocco, Politics, 3/19/2004
Health minister, Mohammed Cheikh Biadillah, held Wednesday a working meeting with Driss Benzekri, the president of the Equity and Reconciliation Committee in charge of out-of-court settlement of past human rights abuses.
The two men discussed the signing of a partnership convention for health coverage in some cases submitted to the committee.
Biadillah voiced his department's readiness to facilitate the committee's mission, a body set up last November 6, 2003, to pursue settlement of past human rights abuses related to forced disappearances and arbitrary detention and complete a fair and equitable rehabilitation of victims.
The creation of the Equity And Reconciliation Committee had been recommended by the CCDH and approved by King Mohammed VI in accordance with article 7 of the Dahir (decree) organizing the CCDH.
