Moroccan security delegation takes part in Madrid blasts probe
Morocco-Spain, Local, 3/16/2004
A Moroccan high-level security delegation went Sunday to Spain, to participate in the ongoing probe of the Madrid terrorist blasts and check the identity of the three Moroccan arrested suspects.
Moroccan Communication minister and government spokesman, Nabil Benabdellah, affirmed in a declaration broadcast Sunday by the Moroccan first TV channel (TVM), that as soon as Moroccan authorities learned of the alleged involvement of Moroccans in the blasts, they decided to send a delegation to Spain.
As soon as the attacks rocked the Spanish capital Thursday, Morocco set up tight links with Spain in order to carry on the existing bilateral anti-terrorism cooperation at the international level.
It is completely normal that the two countries cooperate in order to shed light on these terrorist acts and identify their actors, said Benadbellah.
The terrorist attacks perpetrated in Madrid's railway stations killed 200 persons, including three Moroccans, and made scores of injured.
Spanish Interior Minister, Angel Acebes, announced the arrest Saturday of three Moroccans and two Indians in connection with the blasts.
