Three Americans killed;, Arab member in Karkouk assassinated, Iran denies border clashes with Americans

Iran denied yesterday an American statement that a clash took place between its border guards and the American occupation forces of Iraq at a time when three American contractors were killed and two other wounded in Musil and 19 American soldiers were injured in various operation to the west of Baghdad, while the chairman of the Turkman's front survived an assassination attempt near Karkouk, another assassination attempt resulted in killing one Arab member in the city's municipal council.
Deputy chairman of operations in the American occupation army Gen. Mark Kemet said earlier that the American forces in Iraq exchanged fire on Sunday evening with Iranian border guards in what seemed to be the Iranian- Iraqi borders.
Kemet explained that soldiers from the fourth troops contingent were on the north east borders of Iraq when the incident took place. He added "fire was opened at ( them) by persons wearing the costumes of the Iranian border guards." He added "the American soldiers took the position of self- defense and returned fire."
Meantime, the Iraqi police said that armed men opened fire at a vehicle carrying American civilians in Musil yesterday and this resulted in killing three of them and wounding other two.
One American military spokesman admitted that two American civilians were injured and said that three were killed in the attacks but abstained from disclosing their nationality or giving details over this incident.
Witnesses said that the victims were moving in Musil in a sedan car without a military guarding. Earlier the American amry announced that 19 American soldiers were wounded in operation by the end of last week in west Baghdad, especially in al-Ramadi where five bombs were found and 7 suspects were arrested.
The occupation army also said that four Iraqi civilians wounded in an attack in mortars shelling targeted Abu Gharib prison in the same area.
Witnesses said that one American soldier was killed and another wounded when a land mine went off when one American military vehicle was running in the downtown of al-Ramadi city.
Meanwhile, The leading figure in the Turkman front, Tareq Zenil, said that the front's chairman, Farouk Abdullah Abdul Rahman, yesterday on Sunday survived an assassination attempt when his procession which was instantly coming from outside Iraq was exposed to a bomb explosion on his way to Karkouk. He explained that the explosion took place near al-Khales city and this resulted in destroying two cars and strongly wounding two of his guards." He added that the "chairman of the front was not hurt and he had met today ( Monday) several members of the leaders in the front to explain the results of his visit to Europe."
The commander of Karkouk police Lt. Gen. Tourhan Youssef announced that unidentified persons assassinated yesterday the Arab member in the city's council Akkar Nazal Tawil al-Sumeidi with a personal guard while he was heading for the governorate building. Nazal was elected a member fir the city's municipal council on May 28, 2003 within the Arab group and became a representative for the Arab group in Karkouk government.
On the other hand, the American forces launched a breaking in operation at al-Khulafaa mosque and certain adjoining houses in al-Falouja and this resulted in wounding one Iraqi man and one woman and detention of 7.
