Syria rebuffs foreign dictations, party official says
Syria-USA, Politics, 3/16/2004

Syria on Monday strongly rejected foreign dictations and pressures labeling the so-called initiative of Greater Middle East as a "rejected intervention," but noted keenness on dialogue maintained with the United States.

Regional Assistant Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Suleiman Qaddah told Arab Bars Permanent Office meeting that Syria rejected foreign pressures and dictations and she adhered to her rights as well as rights of the Arab Nation.

" We stick to the international resolutions and call on eliminating terror aimed at societies and individuals. We also urge for differentiation between the rejected terror and the legitimate national resistance against unfairness and occupation,'' he told the opening meeting of the Arab Lawyers.

He stressed demand to free the Middle East from WMD including Israel's. Qaddah urged at the same time to revive the Middle East Peace Process which was built on the Madrid conference basis and UN SC relevant resolutions.

"Syria is emphasizing that the Greater Middle East initiative is a rebuffed intervention in other states affairs and a foreign recipe lacking credibility and being useful,'' Qaddah said.

On the other hand, Qaddah stressed eagerness to maintain dialogue with the United States and called upon the United States to play the role of the "bias, just and fair sponsor to establish the just and comprehensive peace in the region."
