Five persons killed in Yemen including three security men
Yemen, Local, 3/15/2004

News reports in Yemen said that five persons were killed and others wounded in a clash that took place yesterday between armed men and the security forces in the central and western parts of Yemen.

Sources at al-Beida' governorate said that the clashes took place when the security forces tried to prevent citizens from the area to meet with the governor, carrying their personal weapons, noting that among the killed persons are three security men in Rda' city.

The reports quoted local sources as saying that the citizens were seeking to release a relative for themselves detained in an inspection campaign for weapons.

The ambulances transported the victims whose number was not known to a governmental hospital and the security forces in the governorate imposed a tightened security measure on the governor site. Several areas in Yemen have been witnessing frequently tribal - government confrontations in which hundreds fall as victims annually.
