Moussa confers with al-Ibrahimi

Arab League Secretary General, Amr Moussa discussed on Friday with UN. Special Envoy to Iraq, al-Khdar al-Ibrahimi the developments in Iraq and the necessity to maintain the unity of the Iraqi territories, the restoration of the Iraqi people's sovereignty over their land and resources and the formation of their own elected government.

In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Ibrahimi stressed the importance of the preparations for the Iraqi election and for drawing a permanent constitution for the country.

He also stressed the necessity for the Iraqi people to restore sovereignty, independence, unity and control of their resources.

He pointed out that the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is scheduled to participate at the forthcoming Arab summit in Tunis at the end of this month.
