Morocco assures Cote D'Ivoire of its support to restore peace
Morocco-Cote D'Ivoire, Politics, 3/12/2004
Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, assured this Friday Cote d'Ivoire of Morocco's "strong support" to the west African country authorities' process to restore peace in their country.
Cote d'Ivoire "can count on Morocco's steadfast support to the process initiated by the Ivorian high authorities to restore peace, security and concord that have been prevailing in this country," said Benaissa at the opening of the 4th session of the two African countries' high joint commission in the presence of Ivorian foreign minister Bamba Mamadou.
Morocco welcomes the triumph of wisdom and dialogue between Ivorians "who will succeed in finding, by themselves, the solutions to restore Cote d'Ivoire's image as a country where brotherhood is not a mere word," said Benaissa, who also expressed Morocco's strong belief in African solidarity as a constant basis in its relations.
The head of the Moroccan diplomacy also called for developing inter-African cooperation as a means to meet globalization requirements, stressing that the creation of the West African Economic and Monetary Union as a regional integration tool is perfectly in line with the philosophy of NEPAD (New African plan for African development).
