Amir of Qatar starts a visit to Jordan
Jordan-Qatar, Politics, 3/12/2004

The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani, arrived in Jordan yesterday in a two day official visit during which he will be meeting with the Jordanian King Abdullah II.

In statements quoted by the Jordanian official news agency, Sheikh Hamad said that the meeting with King Abdullah comes in the course of consultations and the exchange of views on latest developments and conditions on the regional and international arenas, as well as strengthening firm ties and constructive cooperation between the two states in various fields, noting that the critical conditions the region undergoes require the mobilization of efforts and unification of ranks.

Sheikh Hamad is accompanied in his visit by a high ranking delegation including the foreign minister and the minister of the economy and trade and other officials.

In January this year, the two countries signed during the visit of the Jordanian prime minister Faisal al-Fayez to Qatar several agreements on economic cooperation.

Relations between the two states witnessed several differences during the two last years, but also witnessed some improvement following the meeting which took place between the two leaders in Paris in January 2003.
