al-Ra'i: King Abdullah II and reforms in the Middle East
Jordan-USA, Politics, 3/11/2004
King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed that reform should be due to the will of the peoples and in accord with their circumstances and meet their aspirations, asserting that imposing reform by an outsider will not succeed.
In an interview given to Jordanian al-Ra'i newspaper published on Wednesday, King Abdullah II said that any reform in the region that ignores finding solution to the Palestinian cause will not succeed, holding the international community responsibility for finding just solution to the Palestinian cause.
Regarding Iraq, he called on the international community to enable the Iraqi people to run their own affairs and establish their national and elected government.
He warned against the dangers of the racial separation wall that Israel is building in the West Bank, asserting the necessity for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He also stressed the importance of the Arab forthcoming summit in unifying the Arab ranks in facing the standing challenges.
