Moroccan women call UN SG to intervene for relief of moroccans sequestered in Tindouf
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 3/9/2004
Moroccan women participating in a forum held in Laayoune Monday called secretary general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, to intervene to put an end to the sufferings of the Moroccans sequestered in the Tindouf camps, run by the Algeria-backed Polisario separatists.
In a letter addressed to Annan, participants in the forum titled "together for the consolidation of Moroccan women's assets," said the artificial conflict has caused a human tragedy. Children, sometimes babies, have been separated from their mothers and wives from their husbands, causing the dislocation of families in the Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria).
