Turkish and Syrian stock market to open in Damascus
Syria-Turkey, Politics, 3/9/2004
The Turkish Cehan News Agency said Monday that the stock market to open in Damascus will be similar to the financial bourse in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The Agency added that Turkey is scheduled to take part in setting up the Syrian bourse within two or three months once all official relevant dealings have been completed.
The source said that to carry out this move, Istanbul founder, MP Muharram Qarissli, of the Justice and Development Party, and Hussein Arkan, Deputy in charge of the city's bourse, were among the delegation headed by the Turkish Minister of State for Foreign Trade who has just returned home following a 5-day visit to Syria.
MP Qarissli said that Turkish firms will invest heavily in Damascus bourse once it opens.
