Syria- Turkey signed trade agreement

Economic and Trade Minister Ghassan al-Refaee and Turkish Trade Minister Kursad Tuzmen signed a memo of understanding that provides for forming a joint committee that prepares the project of the free trade agreement between the two countries.
According to the memo, the committee holds its first meeting in Ankara at the end of April. Both sides agreed on forming a follow-up joint committee chaired by the two ministers that meets once each six months.
Following the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of the visit paid by the Turkish minister and the meetings held which resulted in forming a work team to debate the issue of establishing an agrarian Free zone between the two countries, and another work team to follow-up the cooperation issues in the field of housing and construction.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Makram Obeid received the Turkish Minister Tuzmen and the accompanying delegation.
The two ministers stressed the historical and deep rooted ties between Syria and Turkey and the necessity of activating and developing them in the interest of both countries.
Later, both sides discussed a number of issues related to transport, particularly facilitating the movement of air routes, aviation and ports.
Later, Industry Minister Muhammad Safi Abu-Dan received Tuzmen and the accompanying delegation. Abu-Dan expressed the ministry's will to offer all facilities needed for Turkish businessmen wishing to invest in Syria.
Turkish directors of companies presented a number of industrial projects which could be establish in Syria.
