Syrian- Turkish agricultural cooperation

Syria's Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Adel Safar, on Sunday discussed with Turkish Minister of State for Trade Affairs, Korshad Tuzman and an accompanying delegation, ways of boosting bilateral relations in the agricultural spheres.
Safar underlined Syria's readiness to cooperate with the Turkish side in all fields including the establishment of joint agricultural companies and joint marketing and foreign trade companies, in addition to the establishment of joint factories for manufacturing agricultural machineries.
The minister expressed desire to explore the possibility of utilizing the Turkish experience in sphere of modern irrigation so that Syria can increase its agricultural production, and the possibility of cooperation in sphere of veterinary and unification of procedures to combat botanical and animal diseases.
For his part, Tuzman underlined the importance of agricultural investment in Syria through the establishment of joint ventures for agricultural production and marketing.
The two sides agreed to form a technical committee to draw a framework for future cooperation in the agricultural sphere.
