Talibani cancels his Syrian, Iranian and Turkish passports
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 3/4/2004

The office of the "Kurdistani National federation" in Damascus on Monday said that its leader Jalal al-Talibani handed over since months his Syrian, Turkish and Iranian passports he used to have before the collapse of the Iraqi regime to the authorities in these countries.

A statement by the Kurdish party explained that after the liberation of Iraq in which it has become possible to use Iraqi passports for many of the Iraqis who were deprived by the dictatorship from carrying it, Talibani returned back to the Syrian Arab Republic his Syrian passport coupled with a "message of thanks and gratitude."

The statement added that Talibani had similarly returned back his two Turkish and Iranian passports to the authorities concerned "because there is no more need to use any other non- Iraqi passport."
