Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 3/4/2004

Syria's First Lady Asmaa al-Assad will pay her first visit to Lebanon by the beginning of next week, where she will preside over the Syrian delegation to the "woman and armed conflict" forum, to be held under the patronage of Lebanon's First Lady Andrea Lahoud.

The forum which starts on Monday coinciding with the Woman World Day will deal with three topics on "women in legislations and mechanism pertinent to armed conflicts,"" the Arab women towards armed conflicts " and the role of the Arab women and means of empowering her to build justice and peace."

Mrs. Al-Assad presides over a small official delegation and will read a work paper in the first day of the forum under the title "the Syrian woman in the occupied Golan heights."
