Syria deplores Baghdad, Karbala bombardments
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 3/4/2004
Syria on Tuesday evening strongly condemned the "Heinous bloody crime" in Baghdad and Karbala in which over one hundred of Iraqi citizens were killed and warned that its target was "to plant divisions and turmoil in sisterly Iraq."
"While Syria is denouncing this ugly crime; she calls upon sisterly Iraqi people to stick to their national unity in order to make aggressors goals a failure, and to allow Iraq to overcome his ordeal," a Syrian official source said.
At least 143 people died in a wave of coordinated attacks on millions of worshippers in Baghdad and Karbala on Tuesday in the bloodiest day in Iraq since the war.
