The Jordanian media higher council defies a parliamentary decision
Jordan, Politics, 3/3/2004

Chairman of the media higher council in Jordan, Ibrahim Ezz Eddine, has criticized the decision taken by the Jordanian parliament providing for rejecting the decision of the higher council and demanding the return back of the ministry of information which was canceled by the government in the context of a reform program.

Ezz Eddine said he will not resign in reaction to the Jordanian parliament rejection of the council's law. He expressed his confidence that the higher media council is able to perform its due expected role.

Ezz Eddine who was a former minister of information said that the higher council for the media is subjected to a prior auditing from the accountability court, and that the council will proceed with its common activities until a final decision is issued to that effect.

The Jordanian parliament on Sunday rejected the provisional law of the media higher council by a majority of 35 parliamentarians out of 66 who attended the session.
