Belgian parliamentarian: Syria is a significant country regarding ME peace

A Belgian senior Parliamentary figure on Monday said peace could not be maintained in the Middle East without Syria noting that ''Syria is a significant country regarding peace in the region.'' In an interview with Tishrin daily, Foreign Relations Committee Chairman at the Belgian Senate Anne Marie Lizan noted to her country's interest to strengthen ties between Syria and the European Union.
'' We pay a great attention to sign the partnership Association agreement between Syria and the EU,'' the Belgian official stressed. She has recently visited Syria heading a Belgian delegation which held meetings with senior Syrian Parliamentary officials.
