Syria, Local, 3/1/2004
Officers of the Syria Drug-Fighting Directorate arrested a Brazilian woman, Lijia Lukilia Sivero, carrying around 19 Kilos of cocaine drug as she was trying to smuggle them to Syria via Damascus International Airport and then to Lebanon, their final destination, an official source at the Interior Ministry said Sunday.
The source added that three men who were waiting for the woman at the Airport, the Syrian Ziad Mohammad Daher, the Lebanese Ismail Jamil Kalash and Omar Ali Harb, were also arrested at the Airport on Feb. 13.
The attempt to infiltrate the cocaine drug through Syria was aborted thanks to coordination between the Syrian Drug-Fighting Directorate and the American Liaison Officer in Cyprus, and by using the checked passage method, the source added.
Also in Lebanon, the Lebanese concerned authorities arrested the Lebanese Khodr Ali Zuaiter on information from the Syria Drug-Fighting Directorate. The arrested was turned out to be the owner of the smuggled cocaine drugs, the source concluded.
