Morocco, Spain move to activate labor agreement
Morocco-Spain, Economics, 2/28/2004
Morocco and Spain recently adopted in Marrakesh a labor agreement which they have signed in July 2001 in Madrid, to regulate the flow of labor and fight the exploitation of illegal workers, said Morocco's employment promotion agency -ANAPEC.
The agreement, similar to ones signed by Spain with Equator and Columbia, provides for the creation of a commission to select candidates who will be delivered legal stay documents and work contracts in Spain.
The accord guarantees social and professional rights and legal stay conditions to Moroccan workers.
The Moroccan community, with nearly 200,000 registered workers, is the largest foreign community settled in Spain.
