Saudi Arabia-Egypt, Politics, 2/26/2004

The Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al- Faisal announced yesterday that the Kingdom and Egypt agreed to submit a joint work paper on reforming the Arab condition to the Arab ministerial council by the beginning of next month, according to the Saudi news agency.

Al- Faisal said in his press conference in Riyadh "the two sides agreed to submit a joint paper to the council of the next Arab League session over reforming the Arab situation, aiming at achieving Arab ambitions, in line with their interests and values and meets their requirements and particularities."

He explained that this was made during the visit of President Hosni Mubarak to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, giving no more details.

Al-Faisal, on the other hand said that the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank makes it very difficult for any settlement of the conflict. The Saudi news agency quoted al-Faisal as saying that this "wall does not only constitute an isolation for the Palestinians, but also constitutes an obstacle for all initiatives and peaceful solutions debated to find out a solution for the conflict in a unilateral step makes it difficult for any settlement in the future."

He added that this wall imposes a new reality on the ground that will further complicate the situation and add new burdens on the fundamental basics in the Palestinian- Israeli conflict.

Meantime, al-Faisal discussed yesterday with the President of the rotating presidency of the governing council in Iraq Mohsoin Abdul Hamid in Riyadh conditions in Iraq and issues of mutual concern.
