Darfour governor announces the surrender of large number of rebels

The governor of West Darfour was quoted as saying that "large numbers" of rebels in West Darfour area surrendered following the amnesty issued by the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir earlier this month.
Lt. Gen. Abdullah Adam told the official " al-Anbaa " daily that "large number of citizens surrendered to the estate authority in al-Jnineah following the amnesty decision." Adam did not disclose the number who surrendered in al-Jnenah, capital of West Darfour.
Al-Bashir announced earlier this month the general amnesty in all parts of west Darfour under the condition that the rebels will hand over their weapons to the police during one month, stressing that the army crashed the rebel.
