Syrian Prime Minister in an official visit to Tunisia

Syria's Prime Minister Naji Otari and an accompanying delegation on Sunday paid a visit to the tourist baths "Jasmine Region." He listened to a briefing on the new tourist city, its tourist utilities, facilities, services, ancient markets and cultural institutions.

He was also briefed on the investment programs in this area, the pattern of financing and the stages of its construction.

Earlier in the day, Otari arrived in an official visit to Tunisia during which he would co-chair the Feb. 22-24 meetings of the joint Syrian-Tunisian Higher Committee.

In a statement to reporters upon arrival, Otari expressed his pleasure over the standing deep-rooted relations of cooperation between the two states which enhanced under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and his Tunisian counterpart, Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali. He pointed that the deliberations of the 5th session of the Syrian-Tunisian Higher Committee will develop and deepen the fraternal relations of cooperation in the political, cultural, economic and social domains to the benefit of both states and peoples.

For his part, al- Ghanoushe, underlined the importance of the Syrian-Tunisian higher committee meetings to discuss all issues which concern Syrian and Tunisia for widening prospects of the standing cooperation between them particularly in the economic field and commercial exchange.

He stressed Tunis' care to develop the bilateral relations and to find the suitable mechanism for activating these relations on all levels.
