Egypt's custom duties exemption for imports from EU

The government has decided to put into effect measures to gradually cancel customs duties imposed on industrial commodities imported from the European Union (EU) according to the Egypt-EU partnership Agreement.
The first group of products include the capital commodities such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber, railway equipment, copper, engines, tractors and boats.
This group will go through three stages to have customs reduced by 25% a year to reach a total exemption by the fourth year of the Agreement application.
The second group includes intermediate products such as organic chemicals, surgery equipment, glue and adhesives, pesticide and insecticides, electricity transformers and ambulances. This group of commodities will undergo customs cuts by 10% t 15% for six years to reach total exemption within 6 years.
The third group includes marble, coke, fertilizers, leather and wood products, cotton material, glass, iron and steel and air-conditioners. This group will be subjected to annual 5% customs reduction. The fourth group will be exempted from customs duties by 10% a year after six years of signing the agreement including vehicles.
