Two Palestinians killed, Washington accuses Palestinians of obstructing the Roadmap
Palestine-Israel, Military, 2/21/2004
One Israeli soldier was killed and other three wounded in Hebron, the West Bank. Israel said that the incident took place when one Israeli soldier opened fire at his colleagues, wrongly, on his assumption that a Palestinian fighter attacked an Israeli force.
Two other Israeli soldiers were wounded when an explosive went off in an Israeli patrol running on the road between al-Mintar ( Carny ) crossing and Natsareim settlement to the south of Gaza. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Democratic Front For the Liberation of Palestine claimed joint responsibility for the attack.
Al-Aqsa groups of the Palestinian national liberation movement ( Fatah) and al-Quds group, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, said in a joint statement that two of its members "were Martyred yesterday evening in an armed clash to the south of Gaza."
In a later development, two Palestinian children were wounded by the bullets of the Israeli forces near an Israeli settlement in Khan Younis to the south of Gaza. In Bethlehem in the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces detained six Palestinians including Ghassan Abu Kharan ( 30 year old), one of the prominent activists in the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine.
