Governing council threatens to detain Sadoun Hammadi
Iraq, Politics, 2/19/2004
The Iraqi Interim Council yesterday extended criticism to the provisional occupation authority because of releasing the former chairman of the Iraqi national council, and threatened to detain him once again after the authority transfer on June 30.
The rotating president of the council, Mohsin Abdul Hamid, said "we do not accept the release of someone who was in the summit during the former rule or stood with him morally and financially, before bringing him before an Iraqi civilian court." He added "we do not oppose any one just for hostility, we just want to make assurances to those whose children were assassinated."
