Acts of violence returned back against the Kuwaitis in Iraq
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 2/18/2004

Incidents to kidnap Kuwaitis in Iraq returned back once again to threaten each Kuwaiti thinking of heading to Iraq, finding himself a captive for a gang that would ask for a large sum of money to release him.

Relatives of two Kuwaitis last Sunday notified the security sides on the kidnapping of their two sons and accused Iraqi gangs of committing the incident and also submitted similar notifications to the Kuwaiti foreign ministry in this regard.

In the two notifications, the parents said that the kidnapped went to Iraq to buy birds, while security sources said the kidnappers are asking for ransom to release them , without the source specifying the amount.

Several Kuwaitis were exposed to similar incidents by the end of 2003. A matter which obliged the Kuwaiti authorities to put security restrictions on the entry of Kuwaiti citizens to Iraq via border gates.
