Washington calls on Tripoli to stop intervening in Africa
Libya-USA, Politics, 2/13/2004

The US yesterday called on Libya to stop its "destabilizing" interventions in Africa and linked between lifting the American sanctions on it to the extent of its pace to dismantling its special programs on weapons of mass destruction.

In a speech he delivered before "the foreign affairs committee " at the US Senate, the US secretary of State Colin Powell warned that "Libya has to halt playing any destabilizing role and to stop financing oppressive regimes and to stop causing problems in Africa.

He added that Washington will not normalize its relations completely with Libya as long as Tripoli does not put an end to its interventions in the African Continent. Last year, the US criticized Libya's intervention in the African countries of the southern Sahara and in Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Eritrea.
