Syria for boosting oil relations with Iraq

Syria's Prime Minister Naji Otari stressed Syria's support to the Iraqi people and all the exerted efforts to maintain Iraq's stability, unity and integrity.

In a meeting on Thursday with Iraq's Oil Minister Ibrahim Mohammad Bahr al-Uloum and an accompanying delegation, Otari discussed bilateral relations of cooperation in the economic and developmental domains, as well as oil and natural resources fields in the interests of both states.

Alos, Syrian Oil and Mineral Resources Minister, Ibrahim Haddad, on Thursday received al- Ulom and an accompanying delegation.

Both sides discussed the most important projects and issues which can be jointly done and implemented in the fields of oil and gas exploration.

They agreed to form a technical team from both ministries to put a work plan in order to define the priorities for joint projects and cooperation.

Haddad stressed the importance of this meeting which establishes an important beginning for oil cooperation in the interest of the two states. The Iraqi Minister, for his part, said the meeting is very important for putting true and strong basis of a cooperation mechanism which reflects the mutual interest of the two peoples.

Also, President Bashar al-Assad received also the Iraqi Oil Minister. Talks during the meeting dealt with the situation in Iraq and issues related to oil cooperation between the two states.

Meantime, Otari also discussed with Cyprus Communication and Labors Minister Kiki kazamia and an accompanying delegation relations of cooperation between Syria and Cyprus, stressing the importance of developing them in the economic, cultural,transportation and developmental domains, as well as activating the signed agreements between both countries.
