Morocco and Spain satisfied at bilateral friendship and understanding

Spanish foreign minister, Ana Palacio, and Morocco's ambassador in Spain, Abdeslam Baraka, praised the friendship and understanding marking bilateral relationships.

The Moroccan diplomat who attended this Wednesday with the Spanish foreign minister an exhibition of a collection of photos on Morocco hailed the increased presence of Spanish enterprises in Morocco, hoping for "serene and prosperous" bilateral relations in the future.

After thanking the Spanish FM for attending the exhibition, he said the pictures are an invitation to discover Morocco and aspects of the daily life of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The head of the Spanish diplomacy underscored "Morocco's important role in the South Mediterranean region," drawing a parallel with Spain's role in the north Mediterranean region. She stressed that this complicity, which goes beyond collaboration, entitles them to play a role in the Euro-Mediterranean process.

Moroccan-Spanish relations were once again rocked this week end by a small crisis, resulting from Spanish fighter jets flying on Thursday morning at a low altitude over the northeastern province of Nador. After Morocco officially protested with Spanish ambassador, Madrid regretted the incident and ascribed it to bad weather conditions that forced the jets to deviate from their route.
