UN Transports Sudanese refugees to Chad

The UNHCR announced yesterday it will start the transfer of thousands Sudanese refugees from the border al-teinah city on Chad's border into inside Chad.
Al-teinah city which is situated between Chad and Sudan was exposed last week to bombardment from the Sudanese air force, according to sources close to the rebels.
The spokesman for UNHCR, Ron Redmond, that that the refugees will stay in a new provisional center in Toloum, 80 Km from the border.
He explained that a first group of 350 refugees will be transported to Toloum today, to be followed in later days by other groups and all the 4357 refugees registered in al-Teinah.
Toloum Ôs provisional camp will also host as from Wednesday Sudanese refugees from Oghona area, to the south of al-Teinah. The UNHCR calculated 5194 persons to be in this area.
This is the second operation of its sort organized by the UNHCR for those who fled the fighting took place between the government forces and the rebels in Darfour area to the west of Sudan.
The first operation to transport the refugees started from Wandalo in Adri area to Farshana which is situated to the south on January 17, and is still ongoing until yesterday ( Friday), according to Redmond.
