Tariffs dismantling incurs 2.1 billion-dh loss of revenue for MoroccoÕs public treasury

The public treasury has incurred, as at Nov.2003 a loss of revenue of 2.1 billion DH (US$ 238.6 million) as a result of tariffs dismantling applied for European products, in accordance with the association agreement with the European Union.
The department of general economic policy says the enforcement of the association agreement starting March 1st 2003 to a third list of goods from the EU has resulted in a 34.7% increase in European imports, accounting for 54.2% of MoroccoÕs overall imports of the said products.
