Ghanaian fm holds talks with Moroccan officials
Morocco-Ghana, Politics, 1/31/2004
Ghanaian counterpart, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, who started Thursday an official visit to Morocco, held this Friday talks with Moroccan foreign minister, Mohamed Benaissa, and speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Abdelouahed Radi.
The meeting is part of consultations between the two countries on questions of common interest, particularly with regard to the situation in the African continent in general and western Africa in particular, the Ghanaian minister told MAP at the end of a meeting with Benaissa.
Akufo Addo described his meeting with the Moroccan minister as "very useful and constructive," adding that relations between Morocco and Ghana were considerably fostered since the visit three years ago of his predecessor, Hackman Owusu Agyeman.
With the Moroccan speaker, the head of the Ghanaian diplomacy discussed bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
The Ghanaian minister is due to hold other meetings with Moroccan officials, notably prime minister, Driss Jettou, agriculture and rural development minister, Mohand Laensar and fisheries minister, Taieb Rhafes.
The two countries signed in April 2001, one month before the state visit of Ghanaian president John Kufuor, to Morocco, a memo of understanding and solidarity meant to promote bilateral relations.
