Damascus sees off Abdul Rahman Munif

A large funeral was held yesterday in Damascus for the late prominent Arab writer Abdul Rahman Munif. Friends and fans came to see him off for the last time from Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq ( he is of a Saudi father and Iraqi mother and exiled for a long time from his homeland Saudi Arabia).
The funeral procession moved from the western villa area in Damascus in Mezze where he had spent his last days then to al-Shefaa hospital and prayers for him was made in al-Thanaa mosque. The Syrian minister of culture Mahmoud al-Sayyed attended the funeral.
