Obeid stresses Lebanon's commitment to just peace
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 1/27/2004
Lebanese Foreign Minister Jean Obeid stressed that Lebanon seeks the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace which ensures the restoration of the occupied lands in Lebanon and Syria.
In a statement following his return to Beirut Monday ending a round in Arab Gulf states, Obeid welcomed the exchange deal of the captives and arrested at the Israeli prisons. He described the deal as a historic achievement for the Lebanese resistance steadfastness.
Meantime, Obeid stressed the necessity of realizing just and comprehensive peace based on the Israeli complete withdrawal from the occupied Golan to the line of June 4th 1967 and from the occupied Lebanese lands.
In a press conference held in Kuwait Monday with his Kuwaiti Counterpart Mohammad al-Sabah, Obeid underlined that just and comprehensive peace is the only way for the realization of stability in the region, expressing hope over activating solidarity and coordination among the Arab states.
He also called for recognizing the Palestinians' legitimate rights particularly their right to return home, and to establish an independent Palestinian state.
