Israel extends al-Barghoutri detention in the cell
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/24/2004
The Israeli prisons administrator Thursday asked for extending imprisonment of member of the Palestinian legislative council, Marwan Barghouthi, who has been detained since April 2002 in a separate cell.
The spokesman for the Israeli prisons administration, Ofer Leffler, said "extending the detention of Marwan Barghouthi in a separate cell for 6 months came at a request submitted today ( Thursday) to Beer al-Sabaa area court."
He added justifying this request that "Barghouthi was involved in preparing aggressions in Israel" from his cell. Leffler said that Barghouthi is detained in Ohali Kedar prison at the southern entrance of Beer al-Sabe in the Negev desert.
