Initial analysis of Egyptian plane crash black boxes rules out terror
Egypt-France, Local, 1/22/2004
Shaker Qelada, Head of Investigation Team on the reasons behind the ill-fated Boeing 737 crash flight that plunged into the Red Sea on January 3, said that the initial results of the analysis of the plane's two black boxes asserted that there were not any indications of a terrorist act behind the incident, noting that it was due to a technical failure.
The Egyptian and French investigators studying the flight data recorders said that they had found no sign that terrorists were responsible.
They said that a "first look" at the recorders retrieved from the seabed at the weekend bolstered earlier assessments that an accident caused the January 3 crash that killed the 148 people on board, most of them French tourists.
