Equity and Reconciliation Commission keen to meet society aspirations
Morocco, Politics, 1/22/2004

The newly created Equity and Reconciliation Commission (ERC) said Tuesday in a release that in addition to its mission of out-of-court settlement of past human rights abuses, it is keen to meet the Moroccan society's aspirations and bring answers to suspended questions.

The Commission, which is currently studying the elaboration of an action plan, pointed out that the "investigation and analysis of the circumstances in which took place the human rights violations in the past, would allow to define the defects, understand the causes and draw lessons" from these tragic events.

The human rights commission recalled that it will draw up a report with proposals and recommendations meant to help avert the reiteration of such practices.
